Darren Clarke’s worst fears were in danger of being realised when heavy rain delayed the start of the star-studded Scottish Open at Loch Lomond today.

Third favourite Clarke had made a late decision to play following his victory in the European Open on Sunday and said: "With the forecast not being very good you don’t want to end up playing 27 holes a day round here.
