Murphy's Irish Open: Clarke squeezes into weekend
Colin Montgomerie is the halfway leader at ten under after 69 in the second round of the Murphy's Irish Open today.
He leads by two shots from Londoner, Anthony Wall with Fredrick Henge, Barry Lane, Thomas Levett and Thomas Bjorn all at seven under.
Montgomerie, a two time winner of this competition, played the back nine first and turned at one under despite a birdie at the 18th.
However, he carded a hat-trick of birdies from the 4th hole for a second nine of 33.
Only four Irish survive the cut which was made at 142 (Level par), with exactly 70 players going through.
Padraig Harrington at 72, Eamon Darcy at 75, Paul McGinley at 73 and Darren Clarke at 72 are the four Irish survivors.
But Clarke only squeezed in due to a birdie at the 18th hole.
