Power set to secure Web.Com Tour card

The 27 year-old from West Waterford Golf Club carded a four under par 68 on the Fazio Course at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens to go into the final round tied for seventh place on 13 under par.

Canada’s Brad Fritsch shot a 70 on the same track to take a five-shot lead over American Andrew Landry.

The 150-strong field is battling to finish among the top 45 and ties which will decide the 2015 Web.com Tour priority ranking, which will be used to form tournament fields on a tour where players are re-ranked every month.

The winner (or co-winner) will be guaranteed fully-exempt status with the players ranked second to 10th subject to the third reshuffle and players from 11th to 45th and ties subject to the second reshuffle.

Power knows he would get to play almost every event if he finishes in the Top 10 and while he could also earn $15,000 in prize money, the priority ranking is his big goal.

He’s played beautifully all week and yesterday combined six birdies with just two bogeys to move up six spot to tied seventh.

With the top 45 on seven under or better, he’s six shots inside the magic number.

And while the par-71 Champions Course has played between two and three shots harder then the Fazio so far, Power will be confident that he can finish the job today after shooting rounds of 70 and 68 on the Honda Classic track in his second and fourth rounds.
