McSherry fifth at Young Masters

Irish teenager Niamh McSherry finished a highly-creditable fifth in the girls event at the European Young Masters in Hamburg.

The Lurgan girl, who was always in the running, finished with a two over par 73 for a 54-hole total of 215 — six strokes behind winner Alexandra Forsterling of Germany who was four clear of runner-up, Spaniard Alejandra Pasarin.

The other Irish girl, Julie McCarthy from Forrest Little, ended in 46th place.
