Kelleher’s unusual lie forces drop

Young golfer Stephen Kelleher won’t have a more unusual lie in his golfing career than this — his ball landed in the hood of a spectator.

The Fred Daly tournament last week threw up the unusual conundrum for Killarney Golf Club member Kelleher last week.

Kelleher was playing his approach to the 13th in the semi-final of the Munster section at West Waterford against Tramore when his ball found the unusual resting place, in the hood of fellow Killarney member Colm Dunlea.

Killarney member Paddy Kerrisk captured the moment, much to the amusement of another Killarney member Fergal O’Shea.

Kelleher took a drop but unfortunately lost the hole and lost his singles tie, but Killarney went on to win the match. Killarney lost to Mallow in the final later on Thursday evening.
