Nike millions in pocket – but old putter stays in bag

Rory McIlroy may have signed a multi-million dollar deal with Nike but somebody forgot to put a cover on his bag yesterday, revealing what equipment he would be using next season.

Nike millions in pocket – but old putter stays in bag

A passer-by spotted Rory’s new Nike bag on the back of a buggy at The Els Club in Dubai where he is busy practising for the new season.

The big surprise in the bag was his trusty Scotty Cameron putter alongside the Nike Method 001 putter. It’s rumoured McIlroy’s deal with Nike is for 13 clubs, allowing him the option of keeping his Major-winning Titleist Cameron putter in the bag. Tiger Woods had a similar arrangement with Nike.

The picture (with 15 clubs) shows Rory will be using the Nike VR II Pro blades, and will choose between a Pro Combo cavity back two-iron, a three and five wood. Also there are 46, 50 and 54 “Rors”-stamped wedges. The new Nike Covert driver is also in the bag. The official bag announcement comes next Monday.
