Murray leads Limerick charge

Pat Murray, recent winner of the South of Ireland Championship, returns this weekend to a golf course he knows better than most when leading Limerick Golf Club’s challenge for the Munster section of the Chartis Insurance sponsored Irish Senior Cup.

Murray is currently Secretary/Manager of Limerick Golf Club, a position he held for five years at Kinsale, a club celebrating its centenary this year and which will also host the national finals next month.

The programme gets under this morning with the Barton Shield semi-finals involving Doneraile and Shannon and Lee Valley and Tramore. The final is scheduled for this afternoon.

The Junior Cup, in which the semi-finalists are Castletroy and Killarney and Faithlegg and Cobh today, will also be completed leaving the stage entirely free tomorrow for the Senior Cup. Tramore go in search of a notable double although they face a decidedly tricky semi-final meeting with Cork Golf Club. In the second semi-final, Limerick take on Killarney with the final set for the afternoon.
