THE countdown to the first Solheim Cup on Irish soil is down to days and the man who invited the best lady golfers in the world to County Meath can’t wait.

Roddy Carr dropped in to Knightsbrook Golf Club just outside the historic town of Trim yesterday for the opening ceremony at the Junior Solheim Cup.

Today and tomorrow, together with the best female golfers in America and Europe, Carr will be on the site in Dunsany that has housed Killeen Castle for the past 800 years.
