Overworked course manager Jim proves he can fix it – just

PLAYERS and fans have had a rough time at the 38th Ryder Cup but spare a thought for Jim McKenzie, the man responsible for making sure the rain-battered Twenty Ten course survives the fickle Welsh weather.

Despite the deluge that has hit south Wales this week, turning many of the public areas of the Celtic Manor resort into mudbaths, course manager McKenzie has kept the 7,378-yard layout in remarkably good condition.

Seven hours were lost on Friday and when another storm system dumped more rain in the early hours of Sunday morning, he must have looked at the heavens wondering what he had done wrong.
