Movie legend Douglas to tee-up at Adare

WALL STREET’s heading for Adare in the shape of Hollywood superstar Michael Douglas, who yesterday confirmed he’ll be teeing it up with a slew of celebrities for the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am on July 5-6.

The actor – who may be accompanied by his beautiful wife, Catherine Zeta Jones – will join a host of leading celebrities including Hugh Grant, Westlife, Kyle MacLachlan and Samuel L Jackson along with many of the world’s top golfers at Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort.

Douglas will forever be remembered for his portrayal of Gordon Gekko in the 80s monster hit Wall Street, but he’s got a list of Hollywood hits to his name – not least Fatal Attraction, The American President and Basic Instinct. Douglas will reprise his role as Gordon Gekko in this summer’s ‘Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps’.

As the countdown to the pro-am continues, 24,600 entrance caps (at €50 a pop) have been sold with only 5,400 remaining.

Spectators can choose from one of eight different coloured “two-day entrance caps” representing Ireland, Munster Rugby and the Munster counties. At a cost of €50 for both days, they can be purchased from www.jpmcmanusproam.com or at selected retail outlets.

The aim of the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am is to support mid-western charities and groups in their work with the underprivileged and disadvantaged.

All proceeds are donated in their entirety towards the development of these services.

Five years ago, the pro-am raised a staggering €30m.
