Kim: I need to act responsibly

AMERICAN Anthony Kim, who was caught up in controversy over alleged drinking at the Presidents Cup three weeks ago, said yesterday he fully understands his responsibilities.

Kim: I need to act responsibly

Kim is now at the Volvo World Match Play in Spain and won twice on the opening day to stay on course for a possible semi-final against Robert Allenby on Saturday.

The latter told reporters in San Francisco that friends had seen Kim “sideways” at the team hotel in the early hours before their singles clash and compared him to John Daly.

“There is a time and a place for everything and my mother has been telling me that since I was four years old,” Kim said after victories over Retief Goosen and top seed Paul Casey.

“I try to listen to her because she still scares me. And sometimes it’s easy to forget and just say ‘I’m 24 years old, I’ll do whatever I want’.

“But I understand and for the last year and a half have been good about understanding that this is my job.

“There’s a lot of kids that look up to me. I’d better represent myself and the companies that I do represent well.”

As for the Allenby incident he stated: “It’s in the past. We talked, obviously, and have moved on.”
