IN the early months of 2009, staunch Nenagh Golf Club members, Paddy Heffernan and Seamus Hogan, began to plan an assault on the Bulmers All-Ireland Bruen Shield.

They assembled a 17-man squad, tried them and tested them, and set to work. At Tullamore on Saturday, their hard work was rewarded with a comfortable final victory over Waterford.

Their previous success came at Dundalk in 1997 when key man Paddy Kennedy was also a member of the side along with other current squad members, Michael Scroope and Denis Corrigan.
