Clarke chuffed with PGA invite

DARREN CLARKE has been handed a special invitation for next week’s PGA Championship at Hazeltine that he hopes will signal and end to his major championship drought.

Of the 12 majors played since his wife Heather passed away nearly three years ago, Clarke has played in just six and made the cut in only two.

But the world number 109 still believes he has the game to contend for one of golf’s Grand Slam titles and hopes that this week’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone will give him some momentum heading to Minnesota next week for the final major of the season.
