Furyk praise as rookies lead way

RYDER CUP veteran Jim Furyk paid tribute to the six rookies that drove the American team to a resounding victory in Kentucky.

Between them, the half-dozen debutants won nine matches, lost four and halved eight with Hunter Mahan leading the team with three-and-a-half points from his five matches in the 16½-11½ victory over Europe.

It was not only the performances that impressed Furyk, who celebrated just his second Ryder Cup victory in six appearances at Valhalla over the weekend.
