Ryder team big challenge, says McGinley

RYDER CUP veteran Paul McGinley believes qualifying for this year’s European team to face the United States could be the most challenging in the event’s history.

The Dubliner played an integral part in the destruction of the Americans in 2004 as Bernhard Langer’s men handed Hal Sutton’s team a record-breaking 18-9 defeat at Oakland Hills in Michigan and he feels earning a place in this year’s squad will be a tough challenge.

“I think it’s going to be a competitive team and a difficult team to make,” said Sunningdale-based McGinley.
