Big guns set to be out in force at Mount Juliet
World No 2 Vijay Singh has confirmed his attendance in Kilkenny, along with Ernie Els and Retief Goosen, both of whom have shown tremendous form in this year’s majors.
Padraig Harrington, Europe’s leading player in the world rankings, and Davis Love III will be joined by Jim Furyk, Mike Weir and Stewart Cink.
The world’s top 50 players are eligible to compete for a prize fund of $7m, with a record first prize of $1.2m. The prize fund has grown by $1.5m since the WGC - American Express Championship at Mount Juliet Conrad in 2002, when Tiger Woods captured the title and a winner’s cheque of $1m.
