Higgins leads Irish challenge with solid 71

WATERVILLE’S David Higgins is the leading Irishman at the European Challenge Tour’s Donnington Grove Computacenter English Challenge Open.

A solid opening round of one under par 71 left him just five shots off the early pace set by England’s David Griffiths.

The 31 year old, second on the Challenge Tour Rankings in 2000, is currently 86th on the money list and picked up two birdies and a single dropped shot en route to his 71.
