Huge entry for Lynch memorial

A MASSIVE 160 teams will participate in the Jack Lynch Memorial Classic at Skibbereen next weekend with Friday being devoted to the women and Saturday/Sunday to the men.

The event continues to grow in popularity, thanks mainly to the fantastic contribution of the late Taoiseach who seldom missed the fixture down the years. His widow Mairín will be on hand on Thursday at 6pm to unveil a specially commissioned Rynhart bust in his memory and his great friend Des O’Malley will also attend the tournament.

mixed foursomesBallybunion, Kanturk and Mitchelstown have been quick off the mark in submitting their entry for the Irish Examiner-sponsored Munster Mixed Foursomes inter-club strokeplay final at Muskerry on Sunday August 18. Entry forms have been sent to all clubs in the Province regarding qualifying round procedure. The closing date for the return of entry forms to the competitions secretary, Muskerry Golf Club is August 7.
