GAA president launches All-Ireland Golf Challenge
An array of GAA stars attended the launch, including Kilkenny legend Eddie Keher, Kilkenny Allstar Eddie Brennan, former Dublin goalkeeper Barney Rock, former Kerry footballer Vincent O’Connor and former Mayo footballer John Finn.
RTE’s Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh was also present.
Adrian Taheny, Director of Marketing and Sales for FBD, said: “This is the sixth year of FBD’s sponsorship of the Golf Challenge and it will be the most successful to date. The Challenge offers every GAA Club the opportunity to participate on a national stage and to win an All Ireland title.”
Participating teams compete in a provincial championship with the winners qualifying for the All Ireland final.
The Challenge is limited to 30 teams per province.
The Connacht, Munster, Ulster and Leinster finals will take place (respectively) in Claremorris Golf Club, Mayo (8/7/05), County Tipperary Golf Club, Dundrum (15/7/05), Slieve Russell Hotel Golf and Country Club, Cavan (29/7/05) and Tulfarris Golf & Country Club Hotel, Wicklow (12/8/05).
The provincial winners will contest the National Finals over two days at Faithlegg Golf Club, Waterford on Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18.
The Challenge is sponsored by FBD Insurance and organised by members of the Dunhill Club, Waterford.
