Van de Velde looks on the bright side

JEAN VAN DE VELDE is back in the Open championship, will be back full-time on the European tour next season and is over £260,000 richer.

But once again the 39-year-old has hit the headlines for messing up a tournament rather than winning it.

Van de Velde, who blew the 1999 Open at Carnoustie with a closing triple bogey seven, led the French Open by one with one to play at Le Golf National near Paris on Sunday night.
