Handicapping changes proposed by council

The southern branch members of the ILGU at the AGM in Mallow were advised to study the implications of the Unified Handicapping System proposed by the Council of National Golf Unions.

Handicapping changes proposed by council

Clodagh Taylor (Kinsale), one of the handicap advisors to the branch, said that it had been agreed that it would make sense if the system, now amended to include an equal representation from the four ladies and men's union, was studied by all club handicap committees.

The new branch chairman is Rena Jordan (Douglas), and the new honorary secretary is Margaret Power (Youghal). Assistant secretary Barbara Foley (Ennis) was re-elected. New vice presidents are Dareen Foot (Fota Island), outgoing chairman and Mary McMahon (Dromoland Castle), outgoing honorary secretary. Committee: Mary McMahon (Ennis), Sheila Hennigan (Ballybunnion), Eilish Smith (Clonmel), Mona O’Sullivan (Cork).
