Delaney sisters on course for final
Standing in their way are impressive Galway player Sinead O’Sullivan and an U-16 star from Royal County Down Danielle McVeigh.
Karen Delaney, the leading qualifier on Tuesday with a gross 71, meets O’Sullivan in a match that is sure to attract much attention while sister Tara clashes with McVeigh, who must surely be close to selection on the senior girl’s international team.
All four came through with something to spare yesterday particularly in the quarter-final games where none had to go beyond the 16th.
The Plate semi-finals were also reached and here Ciara Mulryan of Tuam meets Dawn Marie Conaty, Ashbourne, while Liz Brennan of Bandon takes on Nikki Taggart, Green Island.
In a consolation competition for non-qualifiers Orla Murray scored 42 stableford points to win by three from Aisling Maher (31) Castletroy with Louise Butler (16) Shannon next on 38.
