AMERICAN Brad Faxon believes golfing greats like Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player are wrong to criticise current players for not doing more to challenge Tiger Woods' supremacy in the game.

The 40-year-old Faxon, who is competing in this week’s Scottish Open at Loch Lomond, regards Woods as the best golfer in history and is convinced he would have diminished the career major records of Nicklaus and Player had he competed during their era.

“I laugh at these guys like Player, Nicklaus and (Arnold) Palmer who say we don’t have enough good players that are stepping up to Tiger, because I think that is ridiculous,” Faxon said before taking part in the Scottish Open pro-am yesterday.
