Langer commits to Ryder captaincy

EUROPEAN Ryder Cup captain Bernhard Langer will definitely not be attempting to play his way on to this year’s team, according to his manager and brother Erwin.

The 46-year-old had indicated he might consider playing if he automatically qualified for the 12-man team, but is now fully committed to being captain for the first time.

“He does not intend to play at all,” Erwin Langer said. “Bernhard is fully committed as a captain and wants to be a perfect Ryder Cup captain.
