Waterford golfer to represent Ireland abroad

FRIDAY was a red letter day for both West Waterford Golf and Country Club and young Séamus Power when it was announced that he had been selected to play for his country in the Boys’ Home Internationals against the cream of young golfers from England, Scotland and Wales at Royal St David’s Golf Club in Wales from August 5th to August 7th.

He will also compete in the British Boys’ Amateur Open Championship at Royal Liverpool Golf Club from August 11th to August 16th.

Séamus becomes the second West Waterford golfer to represent his country, following in the footsteps of Alan Harty who represented Ireland at youth level. Séamus’s selection on the Irish Team is a great filip for the members and management of West Waterford and for his family.

His recognition is well- deserved following his tremendous displays in various events including the All Ireland Schools Championship, the Irish Close, the Irish Youths Championship and most recently the Leinster Boys Championship.

Séamus was also a member of the All-Ireland winning St Augustine’s College Golf team.
