Singh on song, but Whistling Straits the real PGA winner

VIJAY SINGH believes his victory in Sunday's US PGA Championship at Whistling Straits was the "biggest accomplishment" of his career and over the regulation 72 holes and the extra three in the play-off, he was a worthy winner.

But when it came to the crunch, the game's greatest crumbled on Herb Kohler's hybrid links-parkland lay-out on the shores of Lake Michigan with the champion having to wait until the play-off to register his first birdie of the day.

Justin Leonard, one of two runners- up, closed with a 75 and Chris DiMarco, the other to bow out in extra time, produced the best golf of the three to come through the field with a 71.
