Disappointing Open for Irish quartet but Clarke really takes it rough
Pádraig Harrington was best on seven over followed by Paul McGinley, eight over; Gary Murphy, nine over and Darren Clarke, thirteen over.
The first three accepted the outcome philosophically, but Clarke continued in ‘beat himself up’ mode. On Saturday, he stated that ‘I can’t wait to get in my car and go home’. Yesterday, he did just that, exclaiming “My game is just terrible, what more can I say. The course here was too tough for me the way I’m playing.
