New US Open champ confirms K Club date

NEW US Open champion Michael Campbell has decided to play only one event - next week's European Open at the K Club - prior to the Open at St Andrews.

The New Zealander pulled out of this week's French Open the moment he won at Pinehurst and is to skip the Scottish Open as well.

There could be a second big-name withdrawal from Loch Lomond, with world number three Ernie Els - revealing that he could take a three-week break.
