THE countdown is underway. Adare Manor hosted a celebratory Ryder Cup Year to Go gala dinner on Monday night, with team captains Luke Donald and Jim Furyk leading an array of well known guests in the ballroom at JP McManus' Adare Manor for a snazzy knees up.
Host for the night, Late Late show host Patrick Kielty teased out the early mind games with Donald and Furyk to the great enjoyment of over 250 guests that featured members of Government, Limerick City and County Council, Adare Manor, Ryder Cup Europe, PGA of America and the Ryder Cup Commercial family.
Kielty also hosted a Q&A session with three of Ireland’s leading stars – singer Niall Horan, Munster and Ireland legend Paul O’Connell and ground breaking jockey Rachael Blackmore, the first female winner of the Grand National.
Guy Kinnings, chief executive of the European Tour Group, welcomed the invited guests on behalf of the Ryder Cup, before JP McManus spoke in real terms about how much the venue is looking forward to hosting next year’s biennial.
Patrick O’Donovan, minister of culture, communications and sport, also addressed the room on behalf of the Government. On Tuesday lunchtime, the Ryder Cup captains will host their first media briefing to kick off the countdown to September 13-19, 2027.
Here are a few pictures from the evening.
