Surprise defeats for Cork and Dublin in ladies football action

Last year’s finalists Cork and Dublin both suffered defeats yesterday in Division 1 of the Tesco Homegrown Ladies National Football League.

Dublin were stunned by Mayo at DCU while champions Cork lost by a point against Monaghan.

Cora Staunton was the star of the show for Mayo as they inflicted a 0-13 to 0-8 defeat on the Sky Blues. Nine-time All Star Staunton helped herself to 0-11, including eight frees, with Rachel Kearns and Natasha Gaughan adding the other scores for the westerners.
