Cork and Tipperary hurlers to meet twice in January as Munster SHL and McGrath Cup draws made

Cork and Tipperary hurlers will meet twice in January following the Co-Op Superstores Munster Senior Hurling League on Tuesday morning.

Ahead of their Division 1A opener in FBD Semple Stadium on Sunday, January 23, the pair will clash in Group 1 of the province’s pre-season competition in January. Tipperary will also have home advantage for that game.

The date for the game has yet to be confirmed. They are in Group 1 along with Waterford, while Group 2 comprises Clare, Kerry and Limerick.

Cork and Kerry’s footballers are due to meet in Division 1 in SuperValu Páirc Ui Chaoimh on March 13 and they will also face each other in a Cork venue in January as they have been drawn in group two of the McGrath Cup along with Clare.

Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford make up Group 1 with the top team in each of the groups in both codes qualifying for the finals, which will take place between January 14 to 16.

Limerick won the 2026 Munster Senior Hurling League, while Cork have claimed the last three McGrath Cups, 2023, ’24 and ’26.
