Knockaderry pulled off a major surprise, as late scores from Kieran Storin and Mike Molloy saw them collect a maiden Limerick Intermediate hurling title. They got the better of Bruree by just two points in a tense Mick Neville Park contest.

Elsewhere on a busy Saturday, there were lower-tier titles for Doon’s second string, as well as Monagea, who won the Premier Junior A and Junior A titles.

The weather threatened the viability of all games, but despite the conditions Saturday's finals went ahead. Limerick has now divided its 100-plus contingent of teams into nine grades.

Knockaderry prevailed in woeful conditions on Saturday evening, seeing off Bruree 1-16 to 0-17. It is an unwanted third final loss on the trot for Bruree, who lost recent finals to Croagh-Kilfinny and Murroe-Boher.

Knockaderry were inspired by goalscorer Kieran Storin and Mike Molloy (3 points) while Tom Condon was among their second-half point scorers. The 2018 Limerick hero played a centre-back in the opening half, but moved to the edge of the square when backed by a strong breeze.

Bruree led 0-10 to 1-3 by half-time. Sam Williams, Sam Cronnolly and Paddy Lynch among the points but they were ruing a goal from Storin on 26 minutes which was more than a breather for Knockaderry’s overworked defence.

Turning with the breeze, the winners were just four adrift. That soon became six and they didn’t level until the 57th minute. Danaher’s impressive free taking, as well as points from Molloy, Enda Moran and Condon, hauled them level.

A sideline from Moran put them ahead. However, they were level twice more, but Storin and then midfielder Molloy delivered the late points to claim an historic success. It will sit alongside a trio of Junior titles that the rural village has won previously, the most recent being a Premier Junior title just twelve months ago.

Meanwhile in Cappamore Premier Junior honours went to Doon. They led from start to finish to see off Caherline, 3-12 to 0-10, in an all-east affair. Goals from Denis Blackmore, Aidan Moloney and Tom Ryan propelled them to another title. The hurling mad club have now won Junior A and C honours as well as the 2024 senior crown in the last three seasons.

Despite the loss, Caherline will host Kerry intermediate kingpins Dr. Crokes, in the Munster semi-final on 14 November. Doon cannot participate as the second string. They previously lost to Ballygiblin in 2019 in the same competition.

Monagea prevailed 2-14 to 1-6 in a neighbourly western derby over Killeedy in Newcastle West. Nine points from Conor Hough (7f, 1 65) as well as goals from James Normolye and Tom O’Callagan saw them over the line.

Monagea will bid for a double, when contesting the Premier Junior football final against Athea, next weekend.

With Limerick having split their Junior grades into six over recent times, Patrickswell took the Premier Junior B title. They got the better of Doon’s third team, 1-19 to 1-17, after extra-time. It is also an immediate bounce-back for the Well, who were relegated in 2025.

The Premier Junior C and Junior titles were handed out on Friday evening. Garryspillane, with 49-year-old Donie Ryan in goals, got the better of St. Kieran’s, 3-10 to 0-15, to claim Premier C honours. It is a fourth adult title for Ryan, first winning and intermediate medal in 1996.

Effin’s second string got the better of Kildimo Pallaskenry’s third team, by just a point, after extra-time.

As well as the Senior and Premier Interemediate double header on Sunday afternoon, the seventh tier Junior B final also takes place, between neighbours Murroe-Boher and Cappamore. That trio of games will see a conclusion to the domestic adult hurling on Shannonside.
