Mayo wanted Oisín Mullin to play in All-Ireland final says Geelong cats coach

Mullin approached Chris Scott about returning home to face Kerry after he received a message from a Mayo coach.

Geelong Cats coach Chris Scott has claimed the Mayo management attempted to lure Oisín Mullin home to play in Sunday’s All-Ireland final.

Mullin, who is currently starring for his Victorian club and left Ireland at the end of 2021, approached Scott about returning home to face Kerry after he received a message from a Mayo coach.

“Oisín Mullin had taken a phone-call from the Mayo coach just planting a seed about possibly after our game against Melbourne on Friday night that he might be able to pop over to Ireland to play in the final and then come back,” laughed Scott on the “Fox Footy” AFL360 show.

“This is, bearing in mind right in the period where we have three weeks where Oisín is going to play on.

"Then the next week he has (Collingwood) and the next week after that plus an All-Ireland final! We were kind of open to the conversation.”
