'Sam is coming home': Joe Biden, Oasis, Ronan O'Gara and more react to Mayo's All-Ireland final win

Since the incredible happened, since Mayo finally ended their 75-year wait to reclaim the All-Ireland senior football title, the reaction to it hasn’t stopped.

From the Mayo heroes themselves, the likes of Kobe McDonald, Ryan O’Donoghue and Andy Moran to our reporters in the press box such as Tony Leen, John Fogarty, and Maurice Brosnan, everyone has been having their say on the events that unfolded at Croke Park on Sunday.

But the reaction hasn’t just been coming from the people in Ireland, it’s been coming from further afield as well from people with ties to this country, including some huge names.

Joe Biden: “For the first time in 75 years, the Sam Maguire Cup comes home to Mayo, Ireland.

“I said it three years ago when I was in Ballina: Mayo for Sam! And I meant it. I said it because I know what it means not just the county of Mayo but to my own family’s story.

“Today, the dream becomes reality. Congratulations to my friends in Mayo. You earned this victory. Enjoy every minute. Sam is coming home.”

Ronan O'Gara: "Congrats Aidan O'Shea. The resilience you have shown has been rewarded today.

"Imagine having given up 2 years ago..you would have to sit on the couch with 50 years of regrets… look at you now..whether you kicked a ball today doesn’t matter a fuck..

"You were there for every meeting, clarity session and training session. Your input will be appreciated by those who matter. You can do what you like now. Enjoy the celebrations.
