Jonny Greer secures the Northern Ireland Rally Championship

Co-driven by Sligo's Niall Burns, they finished 54.1s ahead of title rivals Monaghan's Sam Moffett (Hyundai i20 N Rally2) and co-driver Pierce O'Callaghan.

With victory on the Carryduff Forklift Rallye Lecale, Jonny Greer (Toyota GR Yaris Rally2) secured the Brown & Brown Northern Ireland Rally Championship - the Carryduff drivers' sixth NI title with the luxury of one remaining round.

Co-driven by Sligo's Niall Burns, they finished 54.1s ahead of title rivals Monaghan's Sam Moffett (Hyundai i20 N Rally2) and co-driver Pierce O'Callaghan.

Fivemiletown's Cathan McCourt (Skoda Fabia RS Rally2) set the early pace as he eked out a 1.5s lead over Greer on the Buck's Head opener. Greer made the perfect response on SS2 to lead by 0.9s.

Even by then, the leading duo had moved clear of the chasing pack with Strabane's Niall McGonigle (Skoda Fabia RS Rally2) 18.4s behind second placed McCourt. Championship contender Sam Moffett in fourth trailed Greer by 22s. Greer and McCourt continued their battle with the latter regaining the lead on SS3 by just 0.1s prior to the service halt in Downpatrick.

A dramatic fourth stage saw McCourt bow out - leaving Greer with a comfortable 34.8s advantage over Niall McGonigle. They went on to exchange stage wins on SS5 and SS6 where Greer was 30.7s clear.

Having won the penultimate stage McGonigle saw his second place go awry when he slid his Skoda off the road as Moffett took the runner-up with Jason Dickson (Skoda) finishing third.

Elsewhere, Clonakilty's Cal McCarthy, who dropped time on SS2 with a puncture, recovered to finish sixth. Monaghan's Richard Moffett (Toyota Starlet) won the two-wheel drive category.

In the 82nd Rally Poland, round four of the European Rally Championship, Moira's William Creighton (Citroen C3 Rally2) finished ninth overall. The event was won by Finland's Teemu Suninen (Skoda Fabia RS Rally2), who finished 9.7s ahead of Polish driver Jakub Matulka whose fellow countryman Mikolaj Marczyk completed an all-Skoda top three.

On Saturday, a pair of four fastest stage times saw Creighton slot into fifth 10.4s off the lead. However, an overshoot on SS6 cost him vital seconds and dropped him to ninth. Ulster driver Philip Allen (Toyota GR Yaris Rally2) was fourteenth overnight and went on to finish twelfth.

In the ERC3 category Tipperary's Casey Jay Coleman took second spot - a minute and 21.2s behind Finland's Ville Vatanen. Ulster driver Kalum Graffin was 5.3s further behind to complete an all-Fiesta Rally3 top three.

There was disappointment for Cavan's Craig Rahill, who won the Katowice super special on Friday night but crashed on Saturday's first stage. With the help of spectators, he managed to get back on the road. Although he arrived at the midday service in eighth place, he was forced to retire due to a damaged roll cage.

For the first time this season Offaly's Alex Dunne (Rodin Motorsport) failed to secure any championship points in the FIA Formula 2 Championship. Suspension failure during qualifying dropped Dunne to 17th on the grid for the Sprint and Feature races.

Dunne finished eleventh in the Feature race and nineteenth in the Sprint race. Mexican Noel Leon (Campos Racing) took his maiden Formula 2 Feature Race victory finishing ahead of ART Grand Prix driver India's Kush Maini and Brazilian Rafael Camara (Invicta Racing).

Championship leader Nikola Tsolov (who began from P12) and Gabriele Mini were seventh and ninth respectively.

Nikola Tsolov retains the lead of the Drivers' Championship twenty points ahead of Mini with Camara just two points further behind in third. Dunne remains in fourth - 59pts off top spot.

Saturday's Sprint race was won by Gabriele Mini (MP Motorsport), who started from P2, the Italian also posted the fastest lap. Polesitter Sebastian Montoya and Nikola Tsolov had an incident that took both of them out and following the race championship leader Tsolov was penalised ten seconds that was converted to a grid drop of five positions for the Feature race.

Meanwhile, in the Porsche Carwow Carrera Cup Great Britain series West Cork driver Michael Keohane (Century Motorsport) took a win and a second place in the latest rounds of the series in Thruxton. In yesterday's first race Keohane, competing in the Master's category took the chequered flag ahead of his teammate Carl Cavers only to incur a five-second penalty for exceeding track limits.

That gave Cavers the category win by 0.268s. In the second race Keohane past his rival on the first of the twenty-two-lap race and went on to control the race.

With Cavers incurring a five second penalty for exceeding track limits, Keohane was able to judge his pace accordingly to claim his second category win of the season.
