Offaly GAA has confirmed that Charlie Mitchell is recovering after he underwent a procedure at St James' Hospital.
Earlier on Sunday, the Offaly captain played the full game - scoring a point - as his side drew with Kilkenny in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship. He subsequently began to feel unwell and was taken to hospital in Tullamore before being transferred to St James'.
Earlier this year, the Kilcormac-Killoughey man was diagnosed with myocarditis, which is an inflammation of the heart muscle. He missed Offaly's National League campaign but returned for the opening round of the Leinster Championship against Dublin. Mitchell scored 1-3 and was named man of the match against the Dubs.
"Following yesterday’s game against Kilkenny, Charlie Mitchell felt unwell," Offaly GAA said in a statement released on Monday.
"After assessment by our medical team Charlie went to the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore. Charlie was transferred to St James’ Hospital where he underwent a procedure last night.
"We have been in contact with the Mitchell family this morning and they have advised that he is currently recovering and is in good form.
"Everyone at Offaly GAA wishes Charlie a speedy recovery."
