Roy Keane and Jimmy Barry Murphy special guests at Movie Night fundraiser

The cast of Calendar Girls organised the fundraiser.

Cork legends Roy Keane and and Jimmy Barry Murphy were special guests at the Pure Cork Quiz held at the Mourneabbey Community Centre on Friday night. 

The organisers had promised guest appearances from "Pure Cork Legends" and did not disappoint the packed out hall as Keane and Jimmy Barry Murphy lent their support to the fundraiser.

The quiz is part of the fundraising for the Mourneabbey Movie Awards Night which is raising funds for the Community Complex with the cast of the Calendar Girls putting together this fundraiser. The Movie Awards night will take place on Saturday Februray 7 2026 at the Charleville Park. There will be a number of movies up for the awards which are based on famous TV shows or films, amongst them will be the Calendar Girls, Derry Girls, The Snapper, The Field, The Shawshank Redemption, Father Ted, Forrest Gump and My Left Foot. 

GAA President Jarlath Burns helped to launch the Movie Awards night alongside the organising committee on October 1.
