Anthony Daly: Éire Óg have been disrespected with Ballygunner slipping a little

If Loughmore-Castleiney were in this final, I think they’d be given a much better chance than Éire Óg are being afforded now.

As I was listening to the Éire Óg-St Finbarr’s football semi-final last Sunday on Clare FM – don’t collapse, I do have some interest in football – I was nearly more tuned into Derrick Lynch’s medical and physical updates on Éire Óg’s dual players during his match commentary than the actual match itself - especially in the second half when the Barrs were running away with the match and it was just a matter of those dual players staying fit and healthy ahead of Sunday’s Munster final.

At one stage, Derrick commented on how Aaron Fitzgerald – the Éire Óg football captain and hurling centre-back – was gone off with an injury and would be as well to stay off. Fitzy though, being the warrior that he is, didn’t and came back on.
