Sciath na Scol: St Patrick’s Skibbereen, Scoil Oilibheir, Carraig na bhFear and Cloyne secure silverware

St Patrick’s Skibbereen claimed their first Rebel Og Allianz Sciath na Scol H4 title after they impressively defeated Kilmurry at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
It was a tight affair in the first half, but St Patrick’s pulled away with a strong second half performance.
St Patrick’s got the first score of the game with a well taken point by Aaron Donoghue before Padraig O’Donovan followed it up to double their early advantage. Mark O’Donoghue got Kilmurry off the mark with a point to cut the deficit to one.
Shane Og Hourihane lifted another white flag for St Patrick’s before Liam Foley got their first goal of the game when his 65 found its way to the back of the net to give them an 1-3 to 0-1 lead.
Kilmurry’s Lachlann Kearney Burke won the ball in the middle of the park and went on a solo run which saw him finish with a powerful strike to hit the net. Kilmurry were two behind as half time approached.
However, Patricks finished the half strongly and when Dylan O’Callaghan hit in a high ball around the Kilmurry box, Hourihane gathered it and fired past the keeper, leaving the scoreboard reading 2-3 to 1-1 at half-time.
St Patrick’s came out strong in the second half and with the swirling wind, which caused the Kilmurry goal to fall down at one stage, picking up, they found their shooting range.
Foley started brightly hitting 1-1. Andrew O’Donovan added another white flag and St Patricks were starting to pull away from a battling Kilmurry side.
Dylan O’Callaghan and Padraig O’Donovan both scored points before O’Donovan hit St Patrick’s fourth goal of the game. Andrew O’Donovan completed the scoring with a point to see St Patrick’s take home their first title.
Kilmurry battled hard throughout the game with Laura Murphy impressing from midfield.

Scoil Oilibheir claimed the first title of the day at the Rebel Óg Allianz Sciath na Scol when they overcame North Mon in the Urban H1 final at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
Scoil Oilibheir were strong throughout the game but North Mon hit a purple patch in the fourth quarter but left themselves too much to do.
Scoil Oilibheir got off to a quick start with captain Aaron O’Sullivan getting his side's first two scores from frees. North Mon settled into the game with some great blocking in defence before opening their account with a well taken free by Messi Rostas.
Conor Bolger got Scoil Oilibheir’s third point before Eoghan O’Sullivan hit the back of the net to leave them 1-3 to 0-1 ahead.
Séan Hennessy lifted a white flag for Scoil Olibheir before the impressive Aaron O’Sullivan hit a 65.
Scoil Olibheir got their second goal of the game after a ball was lobbed into the square with Edward Kendellen getting on the end of the ball to hit the back of the net to leave it 2-5 to 0-1.
North Mon got their second score of the game just before the half time whistle when Caine Wolfe won the ball after a battle to shoot over his shoulder to leave it 2-5 to 0-2 to Scoil Oilibheir.
Scoil Olibheir started the second half brightly with Aaron O’Sullivan hitting a free just inside the 65 before following it up with a superb point on the run down along the sideline.

Kendellen got his brace when he hit a long ball in and it just dipped to drop in over the head of North Mon goalkeeper Corey Dineen to leave the score 3-7 to 0-2.
Kendellen followed up with a point with Aaron O’Sullivan hitting another screamer from an acute angle.
Séan Hennessy lifted the white flag following a battle with the North Mon defence before following it up with a second from the puck out. Conor Bolger hit a great score from a sideline cut to leave it 3-13 to 0-2.
North Mon hit a purple patch with a well worked team goal scored by Cualann Gael who got the first of four goals. Kalvin O’Driscoll followed it up with North Mon’s second after a great solo run from midfield to hit the net.
George O’Mahony got Scoil Oilibheir’s last score of the game with a fine point from play. Jermaine Odabi, who battled hard for North Mon, broke from defence and hit the back of the net from distance with the ball just managing to cross over the line despite the best efforts of Jack O’Driscoll in the Scoil Oilibhéir net.
O’Driscoll got his second goal of the day for North Mon but they ran out of time as referee Michael Collins blew the full time whistle.

It was a tense and low scoring Rebel Og Allianz Sciath na Scol DC4 final with Carraig na bhFear coming out on top following a battle with Inch.
There was very little between the sides throughout with both struggling to break the other down but Carraig ground out the win.
It was a very tense opening half with both defences working hard to keep the other team out. The only score of the half came from Amelia Gubbins after Carraig na bhFear worked a free. Both sides had limited shots on goal with neither side able to convert due to the pressure applied.
The second half continued in the same fashion with great defensive work from both sides but neither able to score in the third quarter. Carraig had the most possession but were unable to convert their chances into scores.
Kelly Walsh thought she had got the first score for Inch but was pulled back for over carrying by referee Michael Collins.
Carraig got the first score of the second half when Róisín Murphy got a goal to leave them 1-1 to 0-0 in front.
Elyssa O’Keefe lifted the white flag for Carraig as they hit into the home stretch to leave them five in front but Inch continued to battle.
Sophia Walsh hit the back of the net to leave two points between the sides. The final final moments were nervy.
Inch went on the attack again and a battle in front of the Carraig goal eventually saw the referee blow the whistle for a throw-in. Inch battled hard to claim possession but they ran out of time as the final whistle was sounded and Carraig na bhFear claimed the title.

Carraig na bhFear claimed the Rebel Og Allianz Sciath na Scol DH4 final after a superb second half performance against Inch.
It was nip and tuck throughout the first half with the sides going in level at half-time but Carrig na bhFear found their rhythm in the second half and pulled away from Inch.
The game got off to a flying start with Charlie O’Mahony getting Inch on the scoreboard with a fine point from play. But Carraig na bhFear responded quickly when Jack O’Neill hit the back of the net following a fine solo run.
Tomás McGrath hit back for Inch with a free before Braidan Dorney struck a point for Carraig na bhFear. Inch responded again with a fine score from McGrath again to leave the score 0-3 to 1-1 to Carraig na bhFear.
Carraig found the net for a second time when Dorney hit a 65 which dropped in the box with Noah Bowen finding the ball and crashing it into the back of the net. Harry Galvin followed up with a point before Tomás McGrath lifted a white flag for Inch.
O’Neill responded for Carraig but Inch found a purple patch and hit five in a row with points from Tomás McGrath (1), Ciarán McGrath (1) and three from Colm O’Regan (2 65, 1 f) to level proceedings. Carrig keeper Ronan Glavey pulled off three fantastic saves to keep his team in the game as the sides hit the dressing room all square 0-9 to 2-3.
Carrig came out of the blocks the quickest in the second half with a point from the influential O’Neill. Cathal Walsh hit the back of the net for Carrig after following a long ball in from defender Barry Varley going over the head of Walsh who gathered and found himself one on one with the keeper. Tomás McGrath got Inch’s first point of the second half with Walsh followed up with a point to leave Carrig in front 3-5 to 0-10.
Corey Forde got Carrig’s fourth goal of the afternoon after hitting in a long ball which the Inch keeper dropped and it rolled into the back of the net. James Kelleher hit back for Inch with a good point from play. But Carrig found their feet and Dorney found the net from a 65.
O’Neill raised two more white flags with Corey Forde adding another as Carrig were pulling away from Inch.
The impressive O’Regan scored Inch’s last point with Carrig’s Dorne closing out proceedings with a 65 for Carrig as they claimed the DH4 title.

Cloyne claimed the Rebel Og Allianz Sciath na Scol H6 final after defeating a battling Carrigtwohill.
Carrigtwohill hit the ground running with a 65 from Max Purrman. Jake Mulcahy Coleman then opened his account for Cloyne.
Carrigtwohill hit the back of the net from the hurl of Tommy O’Donnell to send them three up but Cloyne found their feet with a Jack Murphy free and two points from captain Jack Nyhan to level proceedings.
Cloyne hit a purple patch with Mulcahy Coleman scoring 1-1 and Murphy raising two white flags to leave them six ahead at the break, 1-7 to 1-1.
Cloyne continued where they left off in the second half with Mulcahy Coleman getting his second goal of the day. Jack Murphy followed up with two points, one from play and one from a free.
Freddie O’Lomasney and Alex Murphy both found white flags to leave Cloyne ahead 2-11 to 1-1. Carrigtwohill grew into the second half with Sam Casey scoring a goal from distance. Max Purrman followed it up with Carrigtwohill’s third goal of the game to bring the deficit back to seven.
But Cloyne found their scoring rhythm again with O’Lomasney and Alex Murphy (two) adding points before Jamie O’Connell found the net as Cloyne took the title.
