Cian McCarthy and his eldest boy, Tiernan, will get on the road for Banner country early tomorrow morning. Cian travelled the same road a few weeks back. But instead of finishing his journey at tomorrow’s destination, he continued out past Ennis and stayed going all the way to Loop Head.

It was his second visit to the outermost point of West Clare, his second visit to the workshop of Seamus Connolly. One of the country’s leading bronze portrait sculptors, Connolly was entrusted with immortalising in statue Cian’s late dad.
