Post-match: "It was great to get a game in Croke Park," says man of the match Paudie Clifford. "Both teams were trying to stop each other from scoring, two high power attacks and we're happy to have managed it a bit better."

Clifford says the win is special as they are the first team to win the cup named after Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh. "I feel his presence in this stadium every time we come in," says GAA president Jarlath Burns about Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh. Members of the Ó Muircheartaigh family present the cup to Kerry captain Gavin White.

Gavin White forgoes the three cheers for the losers. That makes any speech a winner.

"We're heading off to Portugal, it'll be hot and heavy over there," says Micheál Burns about the Kingdom's upcoming training camp.

35 min: Kerry have opened up a five-point and Mayo only have themselves to blame. Conor Reid has given away two passes and has been replaced by Darren McHale. Aidan O'Shea has kicked three points but Mayo have lacked the cohesion to hurt Kerry. At the other end, would a forward have put away that goal chance Graham O'Sullivan had? John Fogarty
