John Madden from Causeway has been appointed as the new Kerry camogie manager to succeed Bryan Darcy for the remainder of the 2025 season.
Madden takes the helm in time for Kerry's last round game in the National League on Saturday against Derry. Madden was previously involved, along with Eddie Murphy in Clanmaurice's successive All-Ireland Intermediate Club Championship wins.
Kerry need to beat Derry on Saturday in Lixnaw to qualify to meet Offaly in the League Final in Croke Park on April 13th.
“We are delighted to bring John into the fold, having managed Clanmaurice to last year's back to back All-Ireland win, he brings a wealth of experience to the table,” said Kerry Camogie Chairperson Anne-Marie Russell.
She added, “Due to the upheaval because of a change in management mid-season it has been a tough few weeks. But the girls have responded to the challenge by securing three wins from three since then. The girls have adapted well and continue to give their all for the jersey."
Aidan Boyle will continue as head coach along with Pete Young as coach and John Barry S&C coach.
After losing their first league game to Offaly in Birr, manager Brian Darcy and coach Paul Lillis departed on the eve of their second round clash with Meath in Lixnaw.
But under the stewardship of Aidan Boyle and Pete Young, they defeated Meath and also beat Carlow and Armagh on the road, despite meeing injured star Jackie Horgan.
