Mayo commenced their campaign for provincial honours at under-20 level with a strong display after a sluggish opening quarter to account for Roscommon in Hastings McHale Park on a scoreline of 1-15 to 0-13.

Rory Carthy and John Curran shared most of Roscommon’s tally until Mayo took over with Tom Lydon shooting six first points and University of Galway student John MacMonagle grabbing the game’s only goal to leave Mayo (1-8) to (0-9) ahead at the break.
