It is always nice to kick off on a positive note. What exactly comes with an opening-round win? For former Mayo manager James Horan, it can be complicated.

Mayo reached the All-Ireland final after being relegated in the league in 2020. In 2019, they won the league and bowed out in the All-Ireland semi-final to eventual champions Dublin. So, early defeats are not fatal. A win still matters all the same.
