The venues for Wednesday’s Harty Cup semi-finals have been finalised, with the clash of St Flannan’s and Gaelcholáiste Mhuire AG now confirmed for Kilmallock.
This heavyweight fixture, bringing together the two most decorated schools in the history of Munster colleges hurling, was initially scheduled for Ballyagran, but is now penciled in for Kilmallock (1.30pm).
A large crowd is expected at the Limerick venue, particularly on the Cork side, as Gaelcholáiste Mhuire AG appear in the school’s first Harty semi-final since 1996. It is five years since a Cork side last reached the concluding afternoon of the competition.
It is also five years since St Flannan’s last contested the Harty decider. That victory over Christians represented the Ennis school’s 22nd win, taking them three clear at the top of the roll of honour from Gaelcholáiste Mhuire AG, formerly known as North Monastery.
The other semi-final, between De La Salle Waterford and Thurles CBS, will throw-in at 1.30pm in the east Cork venue of Castlelyons.
