Communities in Carrick-on-Shannon, Crossmolina and Ballina are mourning the loss of a young Leitrim woman who tragically died in Ballina.

The body of Róisín Cryan was recovered on Saturday morning from the River Moy in Ballina.

The Attyrory, Carrick-on-Shannon native was living and working in Ballina and was the fiancée of Mayo and Crossmolina footballer Conor Loftus. 

Loftus was due to play in the All-Ireland Club intermediate final in Croke Park on Sunday, but the GAA postponed the match on Friday until a later date.

Crossmolina Deel Rovers have sent their condolences to the family and friends of Róisín in a statement issued Sunday evening.

"Crossmolina Deel Rovers would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Róisín Cryan especially her parents Joe and Marguerite, fiancé Conor Loftus, sisters Annmarie, Clare, Ruth and Maeve, Clare's fiancé Eugene, the Cryan & Loftus families".

An extensive search had been ongoing since Thursday in the Ballina area with Gardaí and emergency serivces recovering Ms Cyran's body shortly after 10am on Saturday morning.  

Róisin was fondly remembered as 'a gentle and sweet soul' in tributes posted on RIP.ie. She is survived by her parents Joe and Margueriete and fiancé  Conor Loftus, her sisters Annmarie, Clare, Ruth and Meave, Clare's fiancé Eugene, the Loftus family, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbours, work colleagues and a large circle of friends. 

Róisín will repose at The Hertiage Centre, Chapel of Rest, Church Lane in Carrick-on-Shannon on Monday from 3-7pm.

Removal to St Mary's Church, Carrick-on-Shannon on Tuesday evening arriving at 6pm. Mass is on Wednesday at 11am followed by burial in Drumlion Cemetery. 

The Cryan and Loftus family have expressed their appreciation for everyone's sympathy, support and understanding at this difficult time. They have requested, if desired, that donations in lieu of flowers would be made to Grainne Uaille and River Moy Search and Rescue.
