With the announcement that Liam Cronin has joined John Kiely’s backroom team, back-to-back All-Ireland senior camogie champions Cork are on the lookout for a new coach.

Rebel manager Ger Manley paid tribute to the ‘super coach’ who oversaw two-in-a-row in 2024.

“He is a huge loss to us really, we all get on very well with him. He is a super coach, and more importantly he is a super fellow. He blended in and he knew what he wanted and we got two All-Irelands.

“I gelled with him very well, the two of us think alike. He bought into the Cork set-up and it’s all positive from him. He brought us on hugely. His coaching is a few steps ahead.

“He got an opportunity with Limerick that everyone would have taken. They're probably one of the best teams of our era. They’ve been looking for him for a bit, it was a huge decision for him to make. It has been going on for two months and of course we wanted him to stay.

“But it’s his own county, he’s been on the verge, been involved with Dublin and Clare hurlers and the Limerick minor hurlers this year.

“So, yeah, we’ll be looking at a new voice in the dressing-room next year.” That process to appoint a new coach has begun.

“I want to sit down with the county board. I came in with Liam as a package, so I have to look at the whole package of the management team. Everybody did their part this year but with a new coach coming in, you’ve to look at different things and what they want.

"Where we are is great, but we have to improve and that’s what I’ve to look at, someone that is going to bring us on to the next step.”
