Former Cork senior football manager Keith Ricken is the county’s new minor boss, while 1999 All-Ireland winner Fergal McCormack is the new Cork minor hurling manager.

Ricken, who guided the county to All-Ireland U20 glory in 2019, was promoted to the senior post for the 2022 season. It proved, however, a short stint as Ricken was forced to step back from the sideline late on in the National League because of health issues.

The St Vincent’s clubman has been working with the county's underage development squads in recent years, and in keeping with the Cork system of sideline personnel staying with the one underage group all the way to minor, he has been confirmed as minor manager for 2025.

McCormack, too, would have spent recent years helping at development squad level.

Ricken will be handed a two-year term while McCormack, as with his predecessor, has been given a one-year tenure.

“We are thrilled to have people of the calibre and experience of Keith and Fergal to take on such challenging, voluntary roles and we have no doubt that the players involved will benefit hugely from their guidance and instruction,” said Cork chairman Pat Horgan.

“It is a tribute to the work being carried out at underage level that we have such quality people to promote to these management positions and no doubt, both Keith and Fergal will be bringing outstanding support personnel with them also,” added Cork secretary Kevin O’Donovan.

Selectors will be confirmed at the November county board meeting.
