In recent years, Griffin has been coaching teams in Cork where he has been teaching in Watergrasshill. He was part of Kieran Kingston’s set-up as goalkeeping coach in 2022 and is currently coaching senior A club Carrigtwohill.
Prior to that, he was involved with Ballygarvan, MTU, Erin’s Own and Imokilly having transferred to Blarney as a player in 2021.

Along with Griffin, former Limerick hurlers Mark Foley and Barry Hennessy, outgoing selector Pat Bennett and ex-Cork senior camogie manager Paudie Murray had been linked with the position vacated by Stephen Molumphy.
Griffin captained Kerry to a Christy Ring Cup title in 2015 having been part of the winning side in ’11. He also won two Division 2 medals and one Division 3 medal with the Kingdom as well as four county senior championships with Lixnaw and an All-Ireland junior football crown with Finuge.
Kerry are part of the new seven-team Division 2A next season and will compete in the Joe McDonagh Cup.
