Éamonn Fitzmaurice: For Galway and Derry to survive the weekend, they must be prepared to drown

THIS week Jack O’Connor outlined how Kerry are preparing themselves for the sort of challenge brought by Derry in last year's All-Ireland semi-final as opposed to what we have witnessed from the Ulster men more recently, as they embarked on their own version of Via Dolorosa.
Jack and the lads will be extremely wary of Derry and will know they are a clear and present danger. They will appreciate that but for Derry's profligacy in the second half of last year's game (21% shooting accuracy from play) it could have been a very different result. The win in Tralee at the start of the league will only have emphasised that wariness. Kerry will look to go after Derry early, to expose any underlying anxiety. The longer Derry stay in the game the more dangerous they become from a Kerry perspective.
